Openings in LTTE?

I am not a terrorist, in case you suspected it that way. 😉

I was searching whether there was any opening for a PRO or even a technical writer with LTTE. The reason is LTTE stands for “Liberation TIGERS of Tamil Eelam”. But “TIGERS” are made “PULIKAL” (leopards)* in both Tamil and Malayalam translations. I wonder how this happened. Time to change it Tamil Kaduvakal (Tamil Tigers) or LLTE (Liberation Leopards of Tamil Eelam)!

This funny miss in translation reminds me of Suraj Venjarammoodu’s Trivandrum slang: “Tiger puliyanu ketta…”

  1. Ah but Leopards really dont have the same ring :)…and in any case names are chosen for emotive appeal…LRTE just does not have the same linguistic appeal :)…they would have to change the flag too you know 🙂
