Want to have some fun for two and a half hours? Go and watch this Anwar Rasheed film. Directed on the lines of his past hit Rajamanikyam, Annan Thampi offers nice entertainment built on a no-nonsense platform. The film is about the twin brothers Achu and Appu (both roles played by Mammootty) and their enmity which evolved from their childhood. The storyline is centered around people who try to lessen their hostility and people who try to stimulate it. The film also has an absorbing suspense to offer.
Mammootty has impersonated the two roles really well. The inevitable Suraj Venjaramoodu, Salim Kumar and Rajan P Dev lead the comedy. Siddique plays a good character role. The young twins that played the childhood of the heroes deserve special mention. The worst side of the movie is its special effects. The combination scenes of the heroes are poorly created and hence fail to impress. I wonder why Malayalam film makers hesitate to put in better graphics and effects.
The verdict? I give the film 6 out of 10.
