The Kuwaiti government has allowed women to contest and vote in the elections, a welcome decision though very late. But considering the case that there are only 3 other countries in the Gulf following a similar practice, it is a great step. Qatar, Oman and Bahrain have already given their women approval to contest and cast in elections. It is very sad that women are considered less equal than their counterparts in most part of the Gulf. But this is a welcome gesture and hopefully more countries will follow this decision. It is high time.
